Pedstop 94cc Auto Pitbike @ Fatcats Moto Parc

Well after months of talking about it we finally got around to it and got some well deserved track time at FATCATS Doncaster Go Kart track "perfect".

This is a great little venue for getting out of the way when your racing skills are less than average and your testing a pretty but Frankenstein type of bike like ours.

As you can see our camera skills on the day were on par with our riding so definitely more to come in both areas. The bike revealed some small niggles which were expected but it was capable and fast, this thing will be a menace in the right hands "Joe Ravenscroft"

Fingers crossed this weekend we will manage to get the video footage and photos in focus.

Pedstop 94cc Pitbike hybrid with automatic Race engine - Update

Pit Bike 94cc
Over a year has passed since we mentioned our hybrid 94cc automatic Pitbike x scooter and lots of things have changed including my thinking.
Did we finish it? Was it any good? Yes it was and is, so why no updates?

This thing is a beast, handles well, extremely fast and possibly too much fun, HOWEVER wearing no helmet doing 80-90mph in a cold wet, dark car park wearing a t-shirt and jeans with no gloves isn’t something I would ever repeat especially when it results in an off.

ALWAYS WEAR A HELMET KIDS or you might end up with brain damage, severe deafness, fractured ribs, arms and maybe even triple vision. Did I mention the lack of patience and the need to swear at just about everything I don’t like, Fuck it lets show you some pictures now it’s been rebuilt and I’m conscious.

The Beginning
KLX 140 Pitbike was chopped for the fork tube and rake; Pit bikes are great on tarmac with sticky tyres on. Keeping the Pitbike front section retained the original geometry be it looking a bit different.

The Engine
We robbed the engine from our Polini 94cc Piaggio Zip which we love, Polini Big Evolution 94cc, 52mm piston with 44mm long stroke Polini Evolution crankshaft. Polini digital ignition with Big Evo exhaust, 9 roller variator, 33mm Keihin carburettor from a Yamaha Banshee 350cc quad. Bespoke petrol and expansion tank with an oversized radiator also taken from one of our race scooters.

 

The Frame
I better mention the chap that fabricated the frame for us from some very sketchy sketches “Fat Shaun” sorry Shaun I meant Fatspeed now in their new unit fabricating one off motorcycle specials Down and Out Café Racers. Not the usual for these guys but frames are frames especially when it’s something quirky like a Pit Bike.
All of the pictures above are of the now repaired bike “Post Accident” almost as a good as before with the help of some insulating tape and not so perfect cable routing. The seat has been recovered as this wasn’t bolted down during the first test session so took some damage; in fact ha ah that’s what did my ribs.
What next, well we want to see it go around a track just like you with a good pilot not some old arse wannabee like me. Anyways we really can’t risk wrecking it again it’s so pretty. We have somebody in mind that can go around a track fast on pretty much anything and he’s young so he will bounce better than any of us.
