We’re pretty impressed with this unit although we're still seeing red dots after trying one out in the workshop. This polyellipsoidal system for Yamaha Aerox and MBK Nitro scooters gives crystal clear and amazingly bright vision not to mention that it's 100% road legal.

New Polini Cylinder Kit for Yamaha X-MAX and X-CITY 125 / MBK Cityliner 125

Polini's new cylinder kit for 4T Yamaha X-MAX and X-CITY 125 / MBK Cityliner 125 grants great performance and faster acceleration through the rev range making overtaking easier thanks to the fast power delivery of this kit. The kit comes together with a pressure regulator, it's easy to fit and has been calibrated to suit the original exhaust system. By increasing the fuel pressure in the injection system this eliminates the use of the electric gear case thus increasing the power and torque of your scooter.

Technical Features

Made in Italy, this Polini cylinder kit has a 63mm bore and a displacement of 182.66cc. The displacement improves the power output of the scooter with a 11,5:1 compression ratio. The cylinder is cast in light aluminium alloy. The liner with Nickel-Siliceous coating improves the sliding of the piston and resistance to wear and abrasion. The kit includes the new SLS (Single Layer Steel) head gaskets made of flouride techno-polymers that are resistant to high temperatures. The piston is die-cast at high siliceous content with 'omega' design. This reduces thermal expansion and slack. Two special rings and one scraper ring are included with the piston. Polini's special piston dome design also improves the compression ratio.

Audi R8 inspired optics from Tun'R

French styling gurus Tun’R are well known when it comes to radical aftermarket parts for scooters. One of their latest offerings is this trick Audi R8 inspired headlight unit for the MBK Booster and Yamaha BW’s. Available in black or white, horizontal rows of blue LEDs underline the headlights (which are 20W each) to give a striking look. Inspired styling needn’t come at a price either, Tun’R have kept the price low at under 30 Euros making it easy for anyone on a tight budget to adopt some of that Audi attitude.

Yamaha Aerox owners needn’t miss out either with this headlight unit which looks like it’s straight out of the Terminator book of styling:

Doppler / Tun'R @ EICMA 2009

More eye candy from the show in Milan, this time some trick bits from France, namely Doppler & Tun'R...

BOOSTER-DRAG RX

Sporting more tuning and styling components than you can shake a stick at, Doppler in collaboration with BCD have gone the whole hog and transformed what was a humble MBK Booster into a work of art - this fine machine looks it'd be more at home in the Guggenheim museum than on a drag strip. Having said that, the engine appears built for speed and the lengthening and lowering of the scooter suggests it's designed for sprinting. Bolted on to a painted NRG Extreme crankcase is a polished Doppler S7R 70cc cylinder kit, Doppler crank, Doppler S3R inlet, Dell'Orto VHSH 30mm carb, Doppler white internal rotor system. Transmission has been beefed up with a Malossi Over Range variator, Doppler clutch, Malossi wing clutch bell. Doppler S3R chrome exhaust plus Doppler Evolution white silencer. And there's more... Polished and painted MBK Nitro rims utilising Kiesler's Piaggio/MBK rear wheel adaptor + Kiesler rear brake disc (Doppler 230mm front brake disc at the front). Painted Doppler forks, Doppler white racing handlebar and stem (polished) + prototype Doppler white/black grips, Tommaselli quick action throttle. Kiesler fuel tank, transparent cooling hoses, Tun'R twin headlights, BCD Limited Edition bodywork kit RX / Evolution. All very trick indeed.

BLACK & WHITE AEROX

In keeping with Doppler's apparent mono theme is their 'Black & White' Yamaha Aerox which again showcases a whole host of Doppler and Tun'R goodies. Instantly recognisable are the forks, the Doppler white shock absorber and the S3R Evolution exhaust which has been varnised and fitted with a black silencer. The bodywork is predominantly Tun'R stuff, in fact it all is including the front mudguard and transparent black Lexus style brake light. The funky mirror, brake levers and alloy white kick starter are again made by Tun'R. The handlebar and stem are both from Doppler.

More photos of the above scooters can be found in our EICMA 2009 photo set on Flickr... Keep your eyes peeled for more pics from the show as we've still got a bit of a backlog to go through.
