Polini Evolution CDI Units

The new Evolution CDI units from Polini are a very technically advanced product when compared to any others on the market. They work with the support of your battery however the power consumption is only 0.7Ah. They eliminate the energy loss that is generated by your flywheel meaning that more of the engines output can be transferred to your rear wheel. This means that rear wheel power is increased even if engine output is not therefore more acceleration and speed is gained. Each kit includes a connection cable and disc which allows you to connect the CDI to the computer and digitally program it if you wish. There are three kits so far as shown below. The universal kit does not include a pick up or pick up support however can be installed to any engine that has a flywheel and pick up.

New improved Polini Big Evolution air filters

Polini have improved their 'Big Evolution' air filters to better exploit engine carburetion.

The air filter pictured above (Polini product code: 203.0159) features a 'truncated cone' shape, it's easy to fit and is suitable for Yamaha Minarelli horizontal engines equipped with a Polini PWK carburetor. The sponge has a high filtering capacity which traps all the impurities in the air while allowing air to flow efficiently through to the carb.

The above air filter (Polini product code: 203.0160) again has a truncated cone, it's easy to install and comes with a set of sleeves of different diameters to allow fitment with most of the popular carbs.

New Polini Evolution 3 exhaust for LC Minarelli horizontal engines

Polini Motori have a new addition to add to their exhausts range with a new EVOLUTION 3 exhaust system developed to achieve max power from liquid cooled Minarelli horizontal engines.

This exhaust has been specifically designed for use with 70cc Evolution cylinders. The features are as follows:
  • Completely hand made.
  • Exhaust manifold flange with three holes to couple perfectly with the new cylinder and avoid possible gas escaping and power loss.
  • The manifold has been connected with a turned pipe to achieve the Venturi effect and improve the quantity of the gas scavenging consequently producing a power increase up to 14,000 rpm.
  • The visual look and the exhaust's dimensions have been studied to give the maximum yield when used with the TORSEN WD.
  • The silencer curve can be disassembled; it's possible to insert nozzles of different diameters to increase engine revs.
  • The silencer, made of black anodised aluminum is slightly longer to contain noise and varies in the internal diameter which is larger to improve acceleration.
  • The base is detachable to change the deadening material.
All these features improve the general engine performance; both in acceleration and in speed, for a fun ride at the circuits.

Nissan GT-R vs Pedstop 94cc Piaggio Zip

The Nissan GT-R is world renowned for being one of the fastest cars on the block with a staggering 0-60 acceleration time along with a scary top speed. The GT-R has been in numerous comparisons against equally big hp cars and motorcycles, but we think it’s time for our race scooter to try its luck against Godzilla in a less than 100 meter showdown. Crazy it may be but the scooter in question is tuned to the edge of its life and with some basic mathematics its power-to-weight ratio is nearly 650hp compared to the GT-R’s stock 480hp. Even we're not sure how this will turn out but it will be a giggle finding out.

Coming soon... Watch our 94cc 25.5hp Piaggio Zip go head to head with the GT-R in our up-and-coming video. In the meantime, check out our previous movies on YouTube.

Polini Front Wheel Mounting Kit for Piaggio Zip

Once the 60 mph barrier is exceeded on Piaggio Zip SP models using the front SIS arm there is quite a lot of vibration from the front end. This is caused due to the needle roller bearing system within the front hub. Polini’s R & D team have come up with a clever new part designed to remove all vibrations on speeds up to 100 mph.

Polini Output Shaft for Piaggio 2T 50cc Engines

Another part aimed at those serious Piaggio Zip racers is the new output shaft designed to be used with Polini gear kits. The internal shaft is now hollow to save weight however the new case hardened material means that it is actually stronger than the original. The very end of the shaft has also been extended to make fitting of the Polini Torsen bars easier and quicker which is ideal if the weather takes a turn just before your race.

Polini Engine Mounting Swing Arm for Piaggio Zip

One of the latest products now available from the Polini factory is this new swing arm for Piaggio Zip 50cc 2T models. This new support uses two bearings instead of the original silent block design. Not only does this make the frame stiffer and improve resistance under torsion situations it also changes the geometry and length of the scooter. With the length increased by 15mm entry speed can be improved into corners as the turn in is more precise and therefore the rider is able to go in faster. You can also get back on the throttle earlier as there is less chance of the front lifting; Polini’s technicians have seen much lower lap times when using the new swinging arm.

Polini Hi-Speed Evolution Variator Kits

Polini are well known as the market leaders when it comes to transmission components and their latest Evolution Hi-Speed kits are sure to set almost unbeatable targets for the nearest, but distant competition. The benefit of 9 rollers has proved a success on and off the race track over the last few years and now Polini have added some exciting improvements.
Under hard use variators generally increase in temperature which can make rpm drop off due to belt travel being delayed, because of this transmission becomes less efficient. Thanks to a new patented lubrication system from Polini the cannon bush is constantly greased which not only lowers temperatures but allows for perfect variation all of the time under extreme use. The rollers have also been treated to a new coating made form a mix of nylon and aramid fibres to further reduce temperature and roller life.
