Developed with their extensive knowledge of on track racing it has technical features inspired from the top of the range Big Evolution system. New Limited Edition Polini Big Evolution Exhaust Systems

The latest Big Evolution 70cc exhaust system to be released from Polini exploits even more performance and power from Piaggio engines. Designed specifically for use with Big Evolution 70cc cylinder kits making for a perfect fitment with the three holed manifold stub. The limited edition features a turned manifold pipe, this creates a venturi effect improving gas scavenging which in turn increase power output right up to 14000 RPM. The expansion chamber is hand made from 17 separate pieces making for a real visually pleasing look and the stinger pipe can be disassembled allowing you to insert different sized nozzles changing the power at different engine revolutions. Last but not least the silencer is also a new design with a larger outside diameter which Polini claim has also improved power output.

New improved Polini Big Evolution air filters

Polini have improved their 'Big Evolution' air filters to better exploit engine carburetion.

The air filter pictured above (Polini product code: 203.0159) features a 'truncated cone' shape, it's easy to fit and is suitable for Yamaha Minarelli horizontal engines equipped with a Polini PWK carburetor. The sponge has a high filtering capacity which traps all the impurities in the air while allowing air to flow efficiently through to the carb.

The above air filter (Polini product code: 203.0160) again has a truncated cone, it's easy to install and comes with a set of sleeves of different diameters to allow fitment with most of the popular carbs.

RRP for the above products: 38 Euros (£30.59) + VAT

Video: Nissan GT-R vs Pedstop 94cc Piaggio Zip

Straightliners: Zip vs GT-R

So, 480hp Nissan GT-R versus our race tuned Polini Big Evolution 94cc Zip, head to head, which would win in a sprint race? Well if you've attended drag race meets before then you'll know that highly tuned high-spec race scoots are like missiles when it comes to straight line speed. We knew our Zip tuned to the hilt with Polini goodies would deliver, it was then down to Sam, assigned to the controls, to launch the Zip off the line. How would our pocket rocket compare against the ferocious might of Godzilla? Sit back and watch the video...

Nissan GT-R vs Pedstop 94cc Piaggio Zip

The Nissan GT-R is world renowned for being one of the fastest cars on the block with a staggering 0-60 acceleration time along with a scary top speed. The GT-R has been in numerous comparisons against equally big hp cars and motorcycles, but we think it’s time for our race scooter to try its luck against Godzilla in a less than 100 meter showdown. Crazy it may be but the scooter in question is tuned to the edge of its life and with some basic mathematics its power-to-weight ratio is nearly 650hp compared to the GT-R’s stock 480hp. Even we're not sure how this will turn out but it will be a giggle finding out.

Coming soon... Watch our 94cc 25.5hp Piaggio Zip go head to head with the GT-R in our up-and-coming video. In the meantime, check out our previous movies on YouTube.

Adrenalin Pedstop @ Scooter Shootout 2011

On Sunday 2nd October the Scooter Shootout sprinting event took place, feeling the need for speed we took our racing Zips to Elvington near York for some quarter mile action.

The turnout was good with folk from all around the country attending. Thankfully the rain held off and riders were able to get plenty of runs up the drag strip. There was plenty for punters to see too including trade stalls, dyno testing, moto gymkhana and other attractions. Sit back and watch our video with Chris (Orange Polini 94cc Big Evolution Zip) and Sam (Aqua Green 77cc Zip) clocking up some cool 15sec/85mph+ quarter mile times:

At the time of writing it's looking like the event could take place again next year - a promising sign that scooter drag racing is gaining in popularity once again in the UK. Look out for us at a drag strip next season. And who knows, we might have something special planned for the next Scooter Shootout...

For more info and photos from Sunday's racing at Elvington, head on over to petrolmag.net to read an article on the event.

BSSO scooter racing action at Lydden Hill

The 2011 BSSO series continues – Rounds 8 & 9 took place at Lydden Hill in Kent on 30/31 July. Pedstop's Sam Schofield was there supporting the cause. Despite a lack of sleep, a breakdown and two crashes he still had a smile on his face at the end.

Sit back and watch the action in our onboard footage from race two of round 9. Keep an eye out for flying debris and Sam's crash at the end of the video:

You can also read Sam's account of how it went at this round over at petrolmag.net

BSSO 2011 Championship - Rounds 5 & 6: Cadwell Park

With just one week in between rounds this gave our race team precious little time to get the bikes ready in time for Cadwell last weekend. After a disastrous round at Donington, Joe Raves' departure from the team left Josh and Sam to come up with the goods. Frustratingly the weekend was a non-event for Josh due to technical problems which meant losing valuable championship points. In day two the heat was on in more ways than one, thankfully Sam seemed to keep his cool. Get the full low down on BSSO Rounds 5 & 6 in our article at petrolmag.net. And for your entertainment here's the video:

Polini Team 2 Exhaust Redesign

The ever popular Polini Team 2 exhaust for Piaggio and Minarelli horizontal engines has had a bit of a revamp in terms of its appearance. The silencer is now black similar to the Big Evo systems and the bracket design has been made stronger. Just to remind you, Polini Team exhausts work great on 50cc and 70cc road cylinders. Precise fitment and exceptional quality from Polini makes the Team 2 a worthy contender amongst other well known brands.

Polini Big Evolution scooter performance parts

We're keen advocates of Polini performance parts here at Adrenalin and for good reasons. If you've been considering purchasing any of their latest Big Evolution products then the following should be of interest.

Adrenalin Pedstop's 27.7hp Polini 94cc Piaggio Zip SP

Polini's Big Evolution - A New Chapter in Scooter Tuning

2010 saw the release of Polini’s range of Big Evo kits for 50cc Piaggio and Minarelli engines intended solely for competition use. The product range consists of 70cc, 84cc and 94cc configurations created from a selection of cylinder and crank combinations. With a brand new cylinder design and a full range of components to complement the kit, Polini weren’t hanging around and were going all out to match the constantly evolving range of products that surface on an annual basis for these popular engines.

2010 brought home great results for us using the Big Evo 70cc engine in the UK BSSO series with our rider Josh Brown who won races and set new lap records including a new lap time at the Three Sisters racetrack in Wigan. And for the second year running Josh was able to take the BSSO championship and be crowned champion once again. The engine in Josh’s Zip was originally supplied by Polini as a fully built race engine. Further enhancements were made by us in conjunction with Darrell Taylor at 50ccTuning through ongoing development and adjustments to the performance of the engine to suit UK racetracks – bear in mind that the engine was originally set up by Polini technicians for use on the shorter Italian circuits.

Adrenalin's Polini Big Evolution 94cc Piaggio Zip SP Race Bike

2011 comes as a new year and with it the feeling of trying something new, so out came the Big Evo 94cc engine with a view to running it at a race meeting or two. Currently the 94cc engine can be seen fitted to our shop demonstrator for all to drool over.

The Big Evo 94cc Piaggio configuration comprises of a 52mm cylinder kit and a 44mm long stroke crankshaft giving an actual capacity of 93.39cc using the ACU formula (bore x bore x stroke x 0.785). The build started out with a major shopping list of components and includes a brand new set of crankcases. After seeing the odd case fail in the past, the decision to use new casings was a no brainer coupled with the fact that the engine has to be machined out to accept both the crank and cylinder – the most powerful and highest torque producing kit around. The crankcases also benefit from additional strengthening thanks to the new bolt-on Polini Torsen WD which reduces engine flex by making the casing dual sided.

Keep an eye on our blog... In future blog posts we'll take you through some of the engine work including crankcase preparation, additional porting work and water pump assembly.

2011 Polini Evolution 70cc/94cc 2T Piaggio/Minarelli LC engines

If you've got the need for speed and desire an out and out race spec engine then how about this - a complete race engine built by the Polini factory...

Each engine has its own unique number and is built to Polini's exacting standards and every engine is dyno tested before being signed off by Polini's technicians. Two formats are available: 2T Piaggio liquid cooled (e.g. Piaggio Zip 50 SP 1996-99 / 50 SP 2001 onwards) or 2T Minarelli horizontal liquid cooled (e.g. Yamaha Aerox 50 / MBK Nitro 50 / Yamaha Jog RR) with a choice of 70cc or 94cc.

PIAGGIO 2T LC

Polini's new 2011 Evolution Piaggio 70cc engine (product code: AD/050.0937) has the same 47.6mm cylinder as well as the same layout as the 94cc big bore kit and is capable of producing between 24 to 25hp. The latest engine carries all the usual goodies along with the new Evolution cylinder (47.6mm), a new crankshaft and the latest ignition system which we already like very much, not forgetting the latest Big Evolution exhaust.

If you're looking for maximum performance then Polini's 94cc Big Evolution engine (product code: AD/050.0938) is capable of producing between 27 and 30hp! Again, not only do you get the very latest high end Polini performance products, you're getting a blue print for speed, an engine put together by expert technicians at Polini.

MINARELLI 2T HORIZONTAL LC

Polini's 70cc Minarelli horizontal liquid cooled engine, like the Piaggio version, is capable of a very impressive 25hp. Not only do you get an extensive list of high end racing parts pre-fitted, the crankcase and cylinder are also ported to Polini's very precise standards to ensure optimum performance. For a full list of all the components fitted to this engine, take a look at our product page: Polini 70cc Big Evolution Minarelli horizontal engine (product code: AD/050.0939).

If you want to go a step further then how about the 94cc Big Evolution engine (product code: AD/050.0940), this is capable of between 27 to 30hp, suffice to say it's a bit of a monster.

The proof is in the pudding as they say and after Pedstop rider Josh Brown's blistering performance in last year's BSSO series we have no doubts about the capabilities of these engines. Anyone interested in purchasing please call us direct on 01226 630020. We can also offer a good discount to anyone interested in using a Polini engine in this year's BSSO series. As usual we're able to offer expert advice and technical support on all Polini products.

Video - Project Zip: BSSO Round 7 - Three Sisters

Our Project Zip saga came to a close in the final showdown in this year's BSSO series which took place at Three Sisters earlier this month. Josh's crash in the previous round at Cadwell Park meant that he had to start at the back of the grid. Despite this he managed to work his way through the field overtaking the opposition including the likes of the big cc classic scooter riders in true David and Goliath style. Josh finished first in his class but judging by the way he raced finishing first overall was the only thing on his mind. Zack Tingle also put in a good performance but he's had some bad luck this year, a crash in lap four took away his chance of finishing the race.

After the early morning mist disappeared and the racing got underway it was frantic action from the start with riders putting in their best performance in order to claim those championship points and for some, victory in the 2010 series:

The final race of the BSSO 2010 series was the icing on the cake. The Three Sisters circuit had its fair share of racing talent but the power of Polini was on our side and Josh managed to claim victory with a superb first place win. Josh was closely followed by Young Gun Joe Ravenscroft who appeared to pull some serious racing skills out of the bag towards the end of the series. Meanwhile, DNF's seem to have been the theme of the year for Pedstop rider Zack Tingle who, unless we're mistaken, has yet to finish a race! Better luck next time Zack. All in all a successful first year of racing for the Adrenalin Pedstop crew and a memorable one too.
