Polini Evolution CDI Units

The new Evolution CDI units from Polini are a very technically advanced product when compared to any others on the market. They work with the support of your battery however the power consumption is only 0.7Ah. They eliminate the energy loss that is generated by your flywheel meaning that more of the engines output can be transferred to your rear wheel. This means that rear wheel power is increased even if engine output is not therefore more acceleration and speed is gained. Each kit includes a connection cable and disc which allows you to connect the CDI to the computer and digitally program it if you wish. There are three kits so far as shown below. The universal kit does not include a pick up or pick up support however can be installed to any engine that has a flywheel and pick up.

New Polini Evolution 3 exhaust for LC Minarelli horizontal engines

Polini Motori have a new addition to add to their exhausts range with a new EVOLUTION 3 exhaust system developed to achieve max power from liquid cooled Minarelli horizontal engines.

This exhaust has been specifically designed for use with 70cc Evolution cylinders. The features are as follows:

• Completely hand made.
• Exhaust manifold flange with three holes to couple perfectly with the new cylinder and avoid possible gas escaping and power loss.
• The manifold has been connected with a turned pipe to achieve the Venturi effect and improve the quantity of the gas scavenging consequently producing a power increase up to 14,000 rpm.
• The visual look and the exhaust's dimensions have been studied to give the maximum yield when used with the TORSEN WD.
• The silencer curve can be disassembled; it's possible to insert nozzles of different diameters to increase engine revs.
• The silencer, made of black anodised aluminum is slightly longer to contain noise and varies in the internal diameter which is larger to improve acceleration.
• The base is detachable to change the deadening material.

All these features improve the general engine performance; both in acceleration and in speed, for a fun ride at the circuits.

NEW Polini Ceramic Scooter Transmission Components

When we first heard Polini was in the process of developing ceramic drive components we got pretty excited and now they’ve finally arrived. Complete rear pulleys and front half pulleys are available and they feature a rough ceramic coating which simply does not allow belt slip resulting in more drive out of corners and take off speed. Without belt slip it also means that temperatures are reduced allowing your transmission to work more efficiently pushing more drive to the rear wheel. Each component is also much lighter than previous products which improves engine response and further enhances 0 – 60 times.

Pedmoto Series 1 exhaust system developments

If you've been following the discussion on our Facebook page then you'll have heard about the good results of our Pedmoto Series 1 exhaust during testing. A big "thank you" to Ben Davies and Tom Holloway who allowed us to torture their bikes for an evening. All tests went better than expected with surprisingly pleasing figures as a 50 and 70cc exhaust. Shocking really, this system was only intended to come out as one of the strongest performing 50 systems and it has ended up out performing some of the best and poorest in both stock 50 format and mid-range 70 setups.

Visually, the aggressive angle of the Series 1 really benefits the bike by making more of the rear wheel visible. Fitting and removal of the pipe is also easy thanks to the accessibility of the exhaust manifold. The finished system will be sold with a black anodised silencer and will be supplied in a lacquered or bare metal finish just in case anyone wants to have them chrome or nickel plated. We still need to crunch the price a little but we can guarantee it will be hard to beat on performance, price, appearance and general quality for a quite possible RRP of £99.99. Here's a sneak preview of the latest prototype which has now reached the 'beta' stage of development meaning it's now close to going into production. Stocking most of the best brands has made it easy for us to see what's needed to make a good system and hopefully at a lower price than any of the potential competition (providing we've done our sums right)!

Our very own Pedmoto Series 1 performance exhaust has been developed for the popular 50 to 70cc sports range, and now we want one of you guys to help us in our development:

Although our exhaust has already proven to be one of the strongest performers if not the strongest on our test bike, we want to test it on some fresh meat before we commit to a production run. So we need a volunteer with a standard scooter that has a Minarelli horizontal engine (2010/2011) with no more than an aftermarket exhaust fitted and re-jetted etc. (e.g. Aerox, Jog RR, Malaguti F12/F15). Remember guys we're based in Barnsley so it might make sense for you to be quite local. As a reward the owner of the test bike used will receive a FREE Series 1 Pedmoto system!

This is the latest version of the extraordinary nine roller variator kit from Polini. The main improvement is a lubrication system that features a case hardened nickel bush pin with a large internal pocket that contains a special grease. The addition of a spring inside the internal pocket allows the grease to distribute evenly on the pin even under extreme racing conditions. There are other changes too like the new nylon and aramidic fibre coated rollers to further help roller sliding. All in all, this kit will not only improve transmission effectiveness, it will enable lower service intervals too.

It’s a completely new design of cylinder kit that we got a glimpse of back in 2011 thanks to Doppler’s research and development team. Doppler race internal rotor ignition kits with lighting coil

The long awaited Doppler ignition systems have arrived and are in stock for the most popular scooter models. Made by MVT you’re basically getting a premium ignition kit for an unbeatable price. They provide almost twice the power of the original ignition system which, in turn, cleans up combustion giving a very crisp, sharp feeling throttle. Not only can you advance or retard the timing to further gain power from scooters using big bore cylinder kits but.... because they replace the original fly wheel and stator with a tiny little rotor that weighs a couple of 100 grams, the throttle response and the way the engine revs becomes completely different. The new CDI unit included in the kit allows power to run to the regulator unlike most ignition kits. This means you have enough power to run the lighting. ATHENA's innovative new Power Valve System

ATHENA's R&D department have come up with an innovative new Minarelli AM6 cylinder kit which features a pneumatic 'Power Valve System' to give improved low RPM and top-end performance.

ATHENA's Power Valve System exploits exhaust gas pressure by way of a guillotine valve. At low RPM, when exhaust gas pressure is low, the Power Valve is kept closed by a spring inside the pneumatic system. When RPM increases the pressure of the exhaust gas raises causing the pneumatic system to move the guillotine valve upwards.

The kit also comes with a specially designed aluminum Cast Lite piston with Molycote flat head to eliminate frictions.

Two versions will be available; 50cc and 80cc. We'll keep you posted as soon as they arrive!

2011 Polini Evolution 70cc/94cc 2T Piaggio/Minarelli LC engines

If you've got the need for speed and desire an out and out race spec engine then how about this - a complete race engine built by the Polini factory...

Each engine has its own unique number and is built to Polini's exacting standards and every engine is dyno tested before being signed off by Polini's technicians. Two formats are available: 2T Piaggio liquid cooled (e.g. Piaggio Zip 50 SP 1996-99 / 50 SP 2001 onwards) or 2T Minarelli horizontal liquid cooled (e.g. Yamaha Aerox 50 / MBK Nitro 50 / Yamaha Jog RR) with a choice of 70cc or 94cc.

PIAGGIO 2T LC

Polini's new 2011 Evolution Piaggio 70cc engine (product code: AD/050.0937) has the same 47.6mm cylinder as well as the same layout as the 94cc big bore kit and is capable of producing between 24 to 25hp. The latest engine carries all the usual goodies along with the new Evolution cylinder (47.6mm), a new crankshaft and the latest ignition system which we already like very much, not forgetting the latest Big Evolution exhaust.

If you're looking for maximum performance then Polini's 94cc Big Evolution engine (product code: AD/050.0938) is capable of producing between 27 and 30hp! Again, not only do you get the very latest high end Polini performance products, you're getting a blue print for speed, an engine put together by expert technicians at Polini.

MINARELLI 2T HORIZONTAL LC

Polini's 70cc Minarelli horizontal liquid cooled engine, like the Piaggio version, is capable of a very impressive 25hp. If you want to go a step further then how about the 94cc Big Evolution engine (product code: AD/050.0940), this is capable of between 27 to 30hp, suffice to say it's a bit of a monster.

Athena HPR Racing 70cc cylinder kit

Like the HP kit from Athena the HPR Racing 70cc cylinder kit is also great quality and very durable. The difference with this kit is that it features a revised port layout and a flat top piston for added power. It's also a higher revving kit and therefore requires a suitable exhaust such as the Yasuni C16 or Doppler RR7. This kit will work with a standard carburettor with a jetting increase but to make the most out of it we recommend fitting a 17.5mm carb or bigger. Included in the kit are carbon fibre reed petals and a bunch of gaskets.
