Schwalbe scooter tyres put to the test

In the coming weeks we'll be putting a selection of Schwalbe scooter tyres to the test. A track day at Rowrah up in Cumbria is on the cards which will give us the opportunity to put the tyres through the paces and get a feel for the performance of each tyre. As for the tyres themselves let's take a look at what's currently on offer:

Raceman: A semi-slick tyre offering "sporty durability". Available in sizes 10", 12", 13" and 14".

Paceman: Offers race performance and Schwalbe state that this tyre is extremely grippy when cornering. Available in sizes 10", 12" and 13".

Weatherman: As you might have guessed by the name this is an all weather tyre and designed to offer good grip in cold and wet conditions. Available in sizes 10", 12", 13" and 14".

New 'GET POWER' ECU for Yamaha TMAX 2008 > 2011

'GET POWER' is a new ECU from ATHENA engineered by GET for Yamaha TMAX models 2008 to 2011. If you're looking for maximum performance and ease of use then this is the ECU for you. It's quick and easy to install (plug and play) and offers improved engine performance, better acceleration and throttle control. It also has an RPM limiter tuned by GET engineers to maintain drivability and performance within safety limits. The unit is also GPA ready (Get Power Assistance). By connecting the optional GPA switch you can choose from one of ten engine power assistance settings and therefore tune the bike to suit any riding style or track surface.

It's worth noting that this ECU is designed primarily for standard engines using racing exhausts. The performance maps come pre-loaded on the device and have been developed by GET engineers in conjunction with some of the best riders. It's also possible to upload different mappings designed for engine modifications such as high compression pistons, cams or bikes running on racing fuel. So if you want more bottom or top end power then this is also possible. By using the optional PC-ECU interface you can download maps from the web in a few easy steps. Some maps are free, others available to buy.

New Polini Evolution 3 exhaust for LC Minarelli horizontal engines

Polini Motori have a new addition to add to their exhausts range with a new EVOLUTION 3 exhaust system developed to achieve max power from liquid cooled Minarelli horizontal engines.

This exhaust has been specifically designed for use with 70cc Evolution cylinders. The features are as follows:

• Completely hand made.
• Exhaust manifold flange with three holes to couple perfectly with the new cylinder and avoid possible gas escaping and power loss.
• The manifold has been connected with a turned pipe to achieve the Venturi effect and improve the quantity of the gas scavenging consequently producing a power increase up to 14,000 rpm.
• The visual look and the exhaust's dimensions have been studied to give the maximum yield when used with the TORSEN WD.
• The silencer curve can be disassembled; it's possible to insert nozzles of different diameters to increase engine revs.
• The silencer, made of black anodised aluminum is slightly longer to contain noise and varies in the internal diameter which is larger to improve acceleration.
• The base is detachable to change the deadening material.

All these features improve the general engine performance; both in acceleration and in speed, for a fun ride at the circuits.

Keeping up with the times Polini have developed a new HI-SPEED variator dedicated to four-stroke Peugeot and Sym scooters.

The new HI-SPEED variator kit includes rollers, compressing spring and clutch spring and offers improved starts and power output across the rev range even on 50cc displacements.
